GST Collection: Big News! Delhi collected record tax in April, showing signs of recovery from the pandemic

The record increase in GST collection is an indication that the economy of the national capital is now getting back on track. There was a huge reduction in the GST collection of Delhi due to the stagnation of economic activities due to the lockdown caused by Kovid-19.

On the economic front, a good news has come for the national capital Delhi. A record ₹2,898 crore SGST collection has been done in Delhi in April 2022. This is the highest ever SGST collection of Delhi for the month of April. At the same time, if we talk about the total GST collection, there has been an increase of 16 percent in April 2022 in Delhi. The record increase in GST collection is an indication that the economy of the national capital is now coming back on track, which was badly damaged by Kovid-19.

In the last financial year, Delhi’s SGST collection in April was ₹2,325 crore. In this way, this time it has increased by ₹ 320 crore. In 2018, ₹2,075 crore SGST was collected in Delhi, while in 2019 this figure was ₹2,059 crore. Delhi got a total revenue of ₹ 28,500 crore from GST and VAT in the financial year 2021-22. The increase in GST in April is due to pick-up in consumer demand, better GST compliance and pick-up in inflation.

GST collection increased by 16 percent

Delhi’s GST collection increased by 16 percent in April 2022 as compared to April 2021. Delhi’s total GST collection in April 2021 was Rs 5,053 crore which has increased to Rs 5,871 crore in April 2022. Maharashtra had the highest GST collection in the country in April 2022. Here the GST collection of Rs 27,495 crore has been done in April.

The country’s GST collection reached an all-time high,

the highest tax collection has been done by the government in April 2022 since the implementation of the GST Act in the country. In April, a total of Rs 1,67,540 crore has come to the central government’s treasury. GST collection has increased by 20 percent in April 2022 as compared to April 2021. According to the data released by the Finance Ministry on May 1, the GST collection in the month of March was Rs 1.42 lakh crore.

In April, 2022, CGST collection stood at Rs 33,159 crore, SGST collection was Rs 41,793 crore and IGST was Rs 81,939 crore. In IGST, Rs 36,705 crore was raised on import of goods. At the same time, the share of cess in this was Rs 10,649 crore.

The Finance Ministry has attributed the increase in GST collection to the improvement in the level of GST compliance. The tax administration has taken many measures in this regard, which are getting positive results. The department has also made tax compliance easier by motivating the taxpayers to file their returns on time.
