Jio war: Airtel rolls out unlimited calls, 84GB 4G data at Rs 399



India’s largest telecom network Airtel has rolled out a plan to counter Jio’s cheap data and calling plans. The company has a Rs 399 plan that offers free unlimited local and STD calls and 84GB 4G data for 84 days. There’s an FUP limit of 1GB 4G data for a day. Please note that this is not a new plan but some users have discovered it recently.

The plans aims to take on Jio’s Rs 399 plan which also offers 1GB of 4G data for 84 days. The subscribers also get unlimited VoLTE local and STD calls to all operators, unlimited SMS and access to Jio apps.

Vodafone which is the second largest telecom operator in India is also part of this 84 days’ plan bandwagon. The company offers 1GB of high-speed 4G data per day along with free roaming and unlimited calls for 84 days at Rs 352.



Meanwhile, the state-owned BSNL has also rolled out a new Rs 298 plan for its users. The company is offering  unlimited voice calls to any network in India along with unlimited data for 56 days under the plan.  There is an FUP limit of 1GB daily post which the internet speed would be reduced to 80kbps. Please note that it is a one-time recharge offer which means that the plan is available only on first recharge. The plan was made available on August 7 and can be availed only till November 4 of this year.

Airtel is at war with Jio but not just for data and free calls. The company is also planning to launch a Rs 2500 mobile to compete against JioPhone.  It is expected that the company could bring the phone during Diwali. An ET report states that the phone would come bundled with data and voice calling features. Reportedly, the company is even in talks with Lava and Karbonn for the phone’s manufacture.

    • Sir – absurd. From the day I got my 3G SIM converted to 4G & got this Rs 399 recharge I lost complete connectivity. Only early morning it will work or sometimes midnight. I’m totally unaware whom to complain to. Local centres do not respond. If some responsible officials read this & help me out. Else I want to surrender Airtel & opt Jio which is very effective

    • At present I am using idea network with monthly billing. I would like to move to Airtel (if possible) prepaid option. Is this possible?

  33. This is completely fake and cheat.. I’m using airtel only but I didn’t get this offer. This offer is applicable only for few customers. And I’m wondering why the hell they announce these kind of offers publicly. Very disappointed with this network.

  37. I purchased this package for Rs.399 and was given only for 70 days validity.Several attempts to get it corrected, Air tel did not reply at all. I have been at loss on various other schemes by them. Wonder why people are willing to be cheated by Air tel?

This is all gimmicks as for the last six months I have been trying to recharge with the above offer of 399 for 84 days but the dealer says it can be done only if the offer is sent to your phone and my number 9840113490. There is no such restrictions on Jio Phone at least. Bogus and sham offer

    I did recharge for 349Rs. 
    Unlimited call and 
    unlimited internet. 

    I paid amount by airtel bank.

    Problem is
    I didnt got cashback
    I cant able to use 1 GB internet in a day
    I cant able to make call also. 

    What a fake network it is. Its is not an first time for me.

    Previously recharge on Airtel app, it shows 50% cashback.

    I did recharge, but it didnt got any amount back.

    As of now i lost 429 Rs.

    Now 349 Rs

My suggestions to Airtel if they read these comments please don’t waste your money on advertisements it’s better to spend your funds in networking issue and more towers for better connectivity and networking, peoples wants to spend more money but for good network.

    • Airtel network is too poor now a days. Even in metro cities it’s too weak and we get 2G in the place of 4G in the heart of the metro cities like Bangalore

    • Airtel’s network is the poorest in the country. I am in Navi Mumbai, Vashi….there is no signal inside house and i had to go for a MTNL landline to overcome the airtel network issue.
      They must make the same better, no point in competing whn your core comeptency of procide a good network is weak.

  113. 28/10/17 .today I enquired with Airtel, Vodafone & Jio plans as I want to shift FM mtnl dolphin network. All these so called giant providers, are making foooool to subscribers as every stalls give different rates & plans. Either 84 days is reduced to 70 days or 84 days plan has increased the rate. No proper rply. Working staff is daily changed. No one gives any thing in writing abt their plans/ validity/rates/ etc. Vodafone has increased d rates. Jio ask for additional Rs.100/– for new plan which can b changed after 6 months. Everything is so confusing. Pl. Don’t rely on any of these co.s offer. Ask in written term.
    Only TRAI can impose strict & perfect rules. God knows !!!!

  126. Airtel services have gone down the drain. In spite of repeated complaints about call drops, only false platitudes are offered by service personnel. In fact they too are helpless as they have to listen to hundreds of complaints. I know of case where airtel staff and senior personnel us JIO network while sitting in their offices.
    If they cannot run the basic facility of telephony properly, what can be expected from data services.
    IF ANYONE FROM AIRTEL IS READING THIS PLEASE TAKE NOTE.
    NO CALLS CAN BE MADE WITHOUT IT DROPPING AT LEAST TWICE. SO WE PAY 3 TIMES THE COST FOR A SINGLE CALL.

Then now switched to another network.

  142. I am an AIRTEL Customer for a long time. However, the service has deteriorated completely now. Only 2 days back, there was a full page Add in the Newspaper (Times of India), wherein the Toll Free Number was also given. My residence is in DLF CITY Phase 2, Gurugram, Haryana, and the clinic is in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. Throughout my route coverning about 38 Kilometers, I kept on trying at number of places, and every time the response was “CELLULAR NET WORK NOT AVAILABLE”. I feel shocked more so when the AIRTEL Building of very useless stripes of Black & Red, is situated on the main NH-8. Had the airtel mobile service was normal, I would not have bothered to get a JIO Connection.

  224. Apart from your home state, if you are on rooming you’ll not be able to do Out going call you need to do regular recharge for doing outgoing call & sms.

  230. Airtel will not make loss if roaming is included in Rs399/= Plan.I changed fm Airtel to Jio during my 8days visit to Kolkata only because of Roaming. Delhi customers in particular Dr Citizens find it difficult to manage.Make it only for Dr Citiz. Next time I will prefer Airtel only Vis a Vis Jio.

  234. Airtel 4G network is very bad when compared to Jio network & net speed. Airtel should improve it’s services & network speed too in order to satisfy the customer needs. Airtel should make changes in daily limit of data. & also they have to give 128KBPS speed after 1 GB of data to compete with Jio network. Otherwise, whey can’t compete with Jio network.

  260. The offer of teecome companies is to attract the customers but they are not giving god service.
    AirTran is having hidden charges . The BSNL services are too poor as unintrapted service are not maintained.
    Jio service is also causing disturbances as calls are stopped at anytime and Many a times calls are not connected inspire of trying repeatedly and conversation is also not listened while continuity of calls.
    Hope the covered companies may improve their services.

    Now everything is clear that how much profit these company did before JIO came in the market and still they are not below Jio’s PRICE TAG. Moreover JIO is the only company which is providing true 4G, wherever and whenever you go with JIO it is 4G only. So I am scare about the field where JIO is not present like DSL connections how much profit these companies are making and our hole in the pocket is increasing month by month.
