The companies did not make any change in the price of petrol and diesel for the 23rd consecutive day. On May 21, the excise duty on oil was cut by the government. After this there was a big fall in the price of petrol and diesel.

After the decision of the central government, some states also gave relief to the general public by reducing VAT. To give relief from the ever-increasing inflation, the central government had reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel on 21 May. Due to this move of the government, 8 rupees on petrol and 6 rupees on diesel were reduced and people got a big relief.
