Earlier, the CBT had fixed an interest rate of 8.5 percent on EPF deposits for 2020-21 in March 2021.
Finance Ministry will give consent
After the decision of CBT taken in this meeting, the interest rate on EPF deposit for 2021-22 will be sent to the Finance Ministry for consent. After this, the EPFO is stamped on behalf of the government through the Ministry of Finance, after which it provides the interest rate.

Earlier in March 2020, EPFO had reduced the interest rate on provident fund deposits to 8.5 per cent from 8.65 per cent for 2018-19. At the same time, the interest rate for the year 2019-20 had come down to a seven-year low.
