Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana: The importance of insurance for people has increased even more during the Coronavirus period. Now many people have started saving and investing in schemes than before. If you also want to achieve your financial goals, then you can invest in government schemes for this.

If you have a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account with State Bank of India (SBI), you will get free insurance up to Rs 2 lakh. You can claim accidental insurance even if the accident happened outside India.

To avail insurance, customers need to open a Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) account with SBI. Existing customers who have opened their SBI accounts before August 28, 2018 are also eligible for the benefit. This scheme is available for those customers who have applied for SBI RuPay Jan Dhan Card.

Customers who have a PMJDY account with SBI can avail accident insurance coverage of up to Rs 2 lakh. Whereas the sum insured for the former customers is Rs 1 lakh.

These documents will be required

To avail the benefit of accident insurance, the nominee will have to fill the claim form and give the death certificate of the person for whom the insurance is being claimed.

Also they have to submit the FIR of the accident, the mortem report, the FSL report and the copy of the Aadhar card of the deceased. To claim the insurance, these documents have to be submitted within 90 days of the accident.

Scheme launched by Modi government in 2014

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is a financial inclusion scheme launched by Modi government in 2014. The scheme ensures access to various financial services, such as availability of savings bank account, access to credit, remittance facility, insurance and pension facility for weaker sections.
