If your savings account is in the public sector Punjab National Bank ( PNB ), then this news is of your use.
Actually, from May 29, 2022, the non-credit related service charges of PNB will change . These service charges include issuance of multi-city check books provided by the bank, number of free transactions in a year,
hange in locker rent charges, free transactions per month in savings account etc. The change in service charge will affect the savings account customers of the bank. Now they will have to pay more charges for some services.
Check Return Charges- PNB has created a new slab for outward returning charge of Rs 10 lakh. Now the outward returning charge of Rs 10 lakh will be Rs 500 per instrument, which was earlier Rs 250 per instrument above Rs 1 lakh.
These charges will be for outstation check
Charges have also been changed in the case of outstation returning. Now the charge up to Rs 1 lakh will be Rs 150 per instrument. From Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, it will be Rs 250 per instrument. On the other hand, in case of more than Rs 10 lakh, it will be Rs 500 instrument.
Number of free checks decreased
PNB has reduced the number of free check leaves. Earlier, savings account holders used to get 25 leaf check books in a financial year for free. Now from May 29, checkbook with 20 leaves will be available for free.
Maximum free transactions in savings account.
A total of 50 debit transactions are free in a financial year. Now after 50 free debit transactions, you will be charged Rs 10 for each transaction.

Cash handling charges for deposits are applicable at both base and non-base branches of the transaction. There will be 3 free transactions every month (through alternate channels like BNA, ATM and CDM). Up to Rs 1 lakh per day is free and above Rs 1 lakh will be charged a minimum of Rs 50 per thousand.
Proposed fee for locker rent penalty
Public sector bank has changed the bank locker rent penalty. According to the new proposed fee, delay up to 1 year will attract a penalty of 25 percent of the annual rent. Delay from 1 year to 3 years will attract a penalty of 50 per cent of the annual rent, while for delay beyond 3 years, the bank will break the locker.Discount on advance rent collection for lockers
According to the new proposed rule, there is no exemption for depositing advance locker rent. Earlier, for the first 5 years, there was a discount of 20 percent on depositing the advance rent.
